Privacy policy

ANGlearn is a school management service run by Athenium Nexus Global Limited ("ANGlearn", "we"). Schools use it to share lessons, take attendance, publish report cards, set quizzes and keep fee records, through the ANGlearn websites and phone app. This policy explains what information we hold, why, and your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
Who is responsible for your information
Your school decides what information about its students, parents and teachers goes into ANGlearn and what it is used for. The school is the data controller; ANGlearn processes that information for the school, following its instructions. For questions about your records (for example a wrong score or attendance mark), contact your school first.
ANGlearn is the data controller for school admin accounts, school applications sent from this website and ANGlearn's own billing of schools.
What we hold
- Students: name, student ID, school, classes, attendance, scores and report cards, quiz answers and marks, which lessons they have watched and how far, and their timetable.
- Parents: name, email address, which children they are linked to, and the school fee records the school keeps for those children.
- Teachers and school admins: name, email address, the classes and subjects they teach, and what they post (lessons, announcements, quizzes, marks, comments).
- Schools: school name, contact person, phone number, state, number of students, and ANGlearn bills and payments.
- Technical information: login sessions, the phone's notification address (if notifications are allowed), and error reports when something goes wrong in the app (these contain no names or school records).
The ANGlearn app for teachers, parents and students does not collect location, contacts or photos. Fingerprint and Face ID never leave the phone: the phone only tells the app whether it was you.
School bus
Schools that turn on the school bus use a separate driver app. That app collects the bus position only while the driver has a trip running, so the school can see its buses and so a parent can be told when the bus is near their child's stop. Parents choose a landmark name. The school places the pin. We do not store a typed home address, and we do not track a parent's or a student's phone. Parents are not shown the bus on a map, another family's stop, or the route. The school dashboard map is drawn by Mapbox, so the bus position and the stop pin are sent to Mapbox to display that map. Parents do not use this map. A message that the trip has started does not mean the child has boarded. The raw bus positions are deleted after 30 days. A child's location is sensitive under the Nigeria Data Protection Act. The school is responsible for having the parent's consent before it assigns a child to a bus.
Why we use it
- To provide the service your school signed up for (our contract with the school).
- To keep accounts secure, prevent misuse and fix problems (our legitimate interests).
- To bill schools and keep financial records the law requires (legal obligation).
No advertising. ANGlearn shows no third-party adverts, and we never sell or rent personal information or use it for marketing to students or parents.
Children
Student accounts are created by schools, not by children themselves. Schools are responsible for having the consent of parents or guardians where the law requires it. Parents can see their own children's records in the app, and can ask the school or us to correct or delete them.
How we share it
Your school can share your information with other schools you are linked to, and with your teachers and parents.
How long we keep it
- While your school uses ANGlearn, records are kept so the school can see past terms and report cards.
- Notifications are deleted after six months.
- When someone leaves a school, the school removes them; when their account is deleted, their records are deleted with it. When a school stops using ANGlearn, its data is deleted within 90 days, unless the school asks us to keep it longer to export it.
- Billing records are kept for six years, as tax law requires.
How we protect it
Information is encrypted on its way between your device and our servers. Every school's information is kept separate by security rules in the database itself, so a person only ever sees what their role allows. Logins on the phone are kept in the phone's secure storage.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information held about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy, or object to how it is used, and you can withdraw consent where we rely on it. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and tell school admins about important changes.
